Once a Brummie always a Brummie...though the city centre is scarcely recognisable to anyone old enough to remember the ‘60s - and in the ‘60s people complained about the transformation of the Bull Ring into a concrete labyrinth with flyovers for traffic and subways for shoppers. By contrast, much of the city centre is now pedestrianised - and people rule not cars.
